Indian State Governor’s Hacked Twitter Account Promotes XRP

Altcoin news, News

The Twitter account of the Governor of Madhya Pradesh, Shri Mangubhai Patel, was hacked recently, and the perpetrators of the crime exploited his account to promote a fraudulent XRP transaction.

The official Twitter account of the Governor of Madhya Pradesh provided a response to a number of tweets that suggested Ripple Labs CEO Brad Garlinghouse was behind an XRP airdrop.

According to the responses left by the hackers on the Governor’s account, the cryptocurrency known as XRP is “ready to massive PUMP.”

While the account has not yet been reinstated, users of Twitter should be on the lookout for any strange behaviour and desist from clicking any links in the meantime.

This is not the first time that crypto fraudsters have targeted a politician’s Twitter account; in fact, it happens very often. The Twitter account of the Indian Prime Minister was compromised in December 2021 and used in an effort to steal bitcoins from followers. Nevertheless, the office of the Prime Minister acknowledged in a tweet that the account with the handle @narendramodi had been restored after the brief event, and that the tweets that were sent by the hacker had been removed.
