The Web3 Foundation, the organization steering the development of the Polkadot blockchain protocol, has appointed Fabian Gompf as its new CEO. Gompf brings a wealth of experience in the web3 industry and a profound understanding of Polkadot, positioning him to play a pivotal role in strengthening the Polkadot ecosystem.
Dr. Gavin Wood, the founder of the Web3 Foundation and the visionary behind Polkadot and Kusama, expressed enthusiasm for Gompf’s appointment. Gompf’s journey to the role of CEO has been marked by significant contributions to the Polkadot ecosystem. He previously served as a member of the Supervisory Board of the Web3 Foundation. Until 2022, he played a pivotal role in creating and launching the Polkadot network while serving as the VP of Ecosystem Development at Parity Technologies.

Bertrand Perez will continue his involvement with the foundation in an advisory capacity.
