The German luxury automobile manufacturer Mercedes-Benz has submitted five trademark applications connected to the Metaverse and NFT. On December 14 the trademark application was submitted to the United States Patent and Trademark Office (USPTO).
A trademark application was submitted by Mercedes-Benz for the names Mercedes-Benz, Mercedes, S-Class, G-Class, and Maybach. The documents indicate that Mercedes-Benz has plans to create a variety of new products and services, including non-financial tokens (NFTs), virtual clothes and goods, virtual auto components, financial services, cryptocurrency trading, and many more.
In the filing of the “Maybach” model, it was indicated that there were plans for “crypto-collectibles” that would include digital or genuine animal furs, blankets, carpets, rugs, and mats. The “S-Class” filing includes “audio recordings, video recordings, image files, music, and multimedia files incorporating artwork, text, audio, image, or video featuring collectible objects authenticated by NFTs.” Additionally, the “S-Class” filing also includes “multimedia files incorporating artwork, text, audio, image, or video featuring collectible objects.”
