The EOS Network Foundation has deployed EOS EVM version 0.6.0, introducing several integrations between EOS’ native blockchain and EOS EVM sidechain.
Key highlights include ERC20 token bridging, addition of EOS’ USDT token to the trustless bridge, and inter-chain smart contract messaging.
Enhanced Trustless Bridge Functionality
While maintaining full EVM compatibility, EOS EVM v0.6.0 upgrades the trustless bridge’s capabilities. This includes bridging ERC20 tokens between EVM and mainnet.
By adding Tether’s USDT native to EOS, the sidechain can now interact with the stablecoin without third-party bridges. More native EOS tokens will be supported in future releases.
Unlocking Native-EVM Synergies
Users can now deposit USDT into EOS EVM from exchanges supporting EOS’ native Tether version, like Binance, Bitfinex and Kucoin.
Additionally, v0.6.0 introduces cross-chain communication between EOS and EOS EVM contracts, linked by the bridge.
This allows developers to build apps leveraging the capabilities of both chains.
Driving EOSIO Interoperability
The EOS Network Foundation said EOS EVM v0.6.0 represents “another huge leap forward” in maximizing interoperability between EOSIO chains.
Seamless bridging of tokens and data bolsters the overall EOS ecosystem by broadening connectivity between EOS’ native performance and EVM’s smart contract functionality.
As blockchain networks mature, interchain communication unlocks access to diverse toolsets and user bases. EOS EVM v0.6.0 exemplifies this evolution toward composability.
