This competition, spearheaded by MeitY in collaboration with CCA and C-DAC Bangalore, holds significant importance in India’s evolving stance on cryptocurrencies.

India’s lack of parliamentary legislation concerning Web3 and cryptocurrency has been notable. The launch of the IWBDC is seen as an effort to address the innovation gap in the cryptocurrency and Web3 space within the country.

Inspiring Innovators and Developers

The IWBDC competition is designed to inspire and empower technology enthusiasts, innovators, and developers across India. Its primary objective is to encourage the creation of a domestically developed web browser that features its own trust store and incorporates a CCA India root certificate. This move aims to enhance the security and privacy aspects of web browsing for Indian users.

Technical Mentorship and Prizes

Participants in the competition will have the opportunity to receive technical mentorship throughout the challenge, adding an educational dimension to the event. The competition features a substantial total prize pool of Rs. 3.41 crore, with the winner receiving Rs. 1 crore as a reward for their innovative efforts.
