At the All Core Developers Execution Layer #157 call on March 16, the Ethereum main developers announced that the D-day for the impending big upgrade on the Ethereum main net, known as the Shanghai hard fork, would be April 12. It is anticipated that this event will take place on April 12.

The Shanghai update, and more particularly the EIP-4895, will make it possible for validators to remove stETH tokens from the Beacon chain once again after they have been unable to do so since 2020. The completion of the Proof-of-Stake transition will be signaled by the implementation of five Ethereum Improvement Proposals (EIPs), including EIP-4895, which are included in the Shanghai hard fork.

After the Shanghai update, the Ethereum Network is scheduled to get other waves of upgrades, such as “Surge,” “Verge,” “Purge,” and “Splurge.”

In addition, after the Shanghai update, Validators will have the ability to get their rewards in their associated addresses at predetermined intervals. Most recently, a test run was carried out on the Ethereum testnet, during which the Shapella update was seen on the Goerli testnet.
