On Saturday, the Bitcoin (BTC) logo was affixed to one of Germany’s most recognizable landmarks: the Berliner Fernsehturm tower in Berlin. However, it wasn’t the only prominent structure to get the Bitcoin treatment.

The Berliner Fernsehturm, often known as the Berlin Television Tower, is a tower in the Marien sector (Marienviertel) of Berlin that stands 368 meters tall. It is located in close proximity to the very famous Alexanderplatz plaza. It was inaugurated in 1969 by the government of East Germany as a symbol, not only of the city, but also of the Communist rule, and it served both of these functions. It is still the highest tower in Germany, and it is the third-tallest in the whole of the European Union. This makes it an important landmark.

In addition, this famous location was used as the model for the bitcoin logo.

It is not clear who the person or group is that is behind the project; however, one Twitter user appears to have inside knowledge about this series of BTC promotions that have been taking place around Berlin.

Tilo Neumann uploaded a video showing the company logo being projected onto the tower and posted it:

While uploading yet another video showing the projector in operation, Neumann provided some background information about the motivation behind the undertaking. He encouraged people to visit Alexanderplatz on January 21, stating that he believed it would attract the attention of the media. Neumann provided the following response to a commenter who argued that residents of Berlin are unable to invest in bitcoin because they do not have sufficient funds:

“That assertion is very likely to be accurate. Berlin is not a wealthy city. Despite this, “we” are going to try to get people interested in Bitcoin. After all, it concerns the way our finances will develop in the future. While there are those who choose to take a seat in the middle of the road and remain there, “we” have decided to take a different approach.”

However, this was not the first time that an attempt had been made to promote Bitcoin on the tower. Neumann said that a previous effort had been made to do so, but that the “projector wasn’t powerful enough to conquer” the tower.

In response to the question of where they were able to get the projector in the first place, he said that it was “from our own stock.” He continued his statement by saying that they “bought a DIY/beamer and downloaded HD Bitcoin pictures.”
