Hacked Twitter Account of Oman’s Indian Embassy Promotes XRP Giveaway

The Twitter account of the Embassy of Oman in India was hacked, with scammers changing the profile image of the account to an image of Ripple CEO Brad Garlinghouse. 

The scammers used the reply operate to spam customers with faux XRP giveaway phishing hyperlinks.

Although the tweets have been eliminated now, the Twitter account OmanEmbassy_Ind confirmed a number of retweets matching these of Garlinghouse, most likely in an try to make the exercise look reliable.

Moreover, the hacked account responded to tweets with the hashtag XRP and promoted a faux giveaway of 100 million tokens (amounting to greater than $42 million on the worth of $0.42 for every XRP.)

It is speculated that the scammers behind this Ripple XRP CEO, recognized as “Galringhouse”, may have been answerable for hacking CoinDCX’s Twitter account lately. Both of these accounts characteristic comparable faux giveaways.
